About

A farmer, before planting, would bury a piece of cloth in the soil.

He believed that if the earth accepted it—if it changed color, softened, breathed—it was ready to become part of a life.

The cloth would be sewn into garments, worn through the seasons, repaired with care, passed on, and when its time had come, returned to the soil it once touched.

Back to earth.

Everything begins with the choice of the right material. erf works exclusively with the highest quality mono-fibre fabrics to enable a circular process from the beginning. The design process is characterised by a principle of reduction - eliminating anything that does not serve form, feel or function. The result is clothing defined by structural clarity and enduring form.

All pieces are carefully garment-dyed with organic pigments, allowing for subtle textural and tonal irregularities. These intentional imperfections allow every garment to develop its own unique patina that evolves through wear. Each piece begins in its most honest form. With wear it softens, fades, truly developing an unique character.

Drawing from Japanese traditions, craftsmanship at erf is fabric-led and functional - purposeful in every detail. Inspired by techniques like sashiko, where reinforcement and longevity go hand in hand, garments are designed to be worn, repaired and kept in use.

erf was founded with the aim of creating garments that combine craftsmanship, responsibility and longevity—without compromise. A considered approach to clothing, made to last — based in Vienna.
